June 20, 2009, raining, 8:30 am, and there are lots of kids in red, white, and blue and purple/black swimsuits at the pool, shivering. And then it starts! The National Anthem is played, and it's on! This was the first swim meet I have every attended (and I have lived here since 1980), but it won’t be my last. What Fun! All the kids gave their all; their teammates and parents and friends cheering them on. The organization that goes into just one of these meets is phenomenal—and everyone just pitches in. Even me, I cooked hotdogs! And, I’ll be back to do it again.

Make a point of trying to attend a meet; the schedule is posted on our website. It’s loads of fun. The concession stand is fully stocked; sodas, nachos, hotdogs, candy, cereal bars. My personal thanks to all parents and the swim team Representatives; without you this could not be possible. Special thanks to the kids who worked so hard, the coaches who made them, and the Cahills for all their support (!).
